Hand-signed by regional artist Mary Ellis, this piece depicts a serene rural scene featuring a rustic wooden fence line, open fields, and lush trees under a clear blue sky.
The back of the painting features a handwritten inscription detailing its origin and exact date: "Caddo Lake, LA, Mary Ellis, Aug 1980." Caddo Lake is a historic, stunning body of water on the Texas-Louisiana border, making this a wonderful piece of regional American folk history.
The painting is housed in its original, heavy, ornate baroque-style frame with a rich dark gold/bronze finish. The frame features intricate scrolling details that give it incredible dimension and presence despite its compact size.
